THE START OF IT ALL
There’s something profoundly moving about a story that isn’t afraid to linger in silence—and Your Hello to My Goodbye, an upcoming play from Cornucopia Productions premiering this August at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, does just that.
The story centers on Saxarla, the eldest daughter in an immigrant family, on the night before she leaves home for the first time. Bound for New York and a new job, Saxarla spends her final evening packing—what unfolds is not just a goodbye, but an unraveling of years of unspoken love, sacrifice, and longing. In a household where feelings are rarely spoken aloud, something begins to shift over the course of a single night.

Even before its debut, the play is resonating with audiences. Many have connected with Saxarla’s experience—the feeling of being the one who holds everything together, the quiet guilt of choosing oneself, the longing to be understood by family, even if the words are never said.
At its core, Your Hello to My Goodbye captures the universal tension between duty and desire, between home and the unknown. It’s not just a story about leaving—it’s about all the small, quiet moments that shape us, and the courage it takes to let go.
For anyone who has ever been the strong one, the first to leave, or the one chasing a future no one talks about, this is a story that promises to feel deeply familiar.
Your Hello to My Goodbye runs August 1–10 at the Minnesota Fringe Festival.
